Track Gauges

Track Gauges

Accurate track geometry measurement is fundamental to railway safety. Our track gauging instruments are used by track engineers worldwide to assess and record rail gauge, cross-level, cant, and rail profile, providing the physical measurement data needed for effective maintenance planning and compliance.

Product Range

BANCE Track Gauge

BANCE Track Gauge

Lightweight digital tool for fast, high-accuracy distance and tilt measurement on live lines.

Features a clear LCD screen providing instant, repeatable readings across standard rail sizes. Equipped with hardened contact points to prevent wear and preserve accuracy over thousands of checks. Designed for daily track safety inspections, routine track geometry checks, and post-maintenance verification.

Rail profile gauge positioned against a section of rail

BANCE Rail Profile Gauge

Precision cross-sectional measuring tool to evaluate rail head wear and shape.

Captures the full profile of the rail head using high-precision mechanical templates or digital sensor arrays. Compares actual rail shape against brand-new dimensions to determine grinding or replacement schedules. Perfect for rail grinding assessment, wear limit verification, and tracking rail degradation over time.

BANCE Wheel Flange Height & Thickness Gauge

BANCE Wheel Flange Height & Thickness Gauge

Essential safety gauge for inspecting train wheel profiles against strict safety limits.

Provides quick pass or fail checks along with exact numeric measurements for wheel flange height and thickness. Helps depot teams catch worn wheels before they damage track hardware or risk derailment. Essential for rolling stock maintenance, depot inspections, and planning wheel re-turning or replacement schedules.

BANCE S&C Maintenance Gauge

British Rail certified multi-function gauge for accurate switches & crossings maintenance.

Designed specifically for British Rail civil engineers, the S&C Maintenance Gauge enables accurate and efficient maintenance and repair of switches and crossings (S&C). The gauge checks multiple critical parameters in a single tool: toe opening dimensions for clamp lock, spring lever, and motor-operated switches across standard AMS Switch Rail radius sizes (85–120 mm), flangeway minimums, check rail wear, maximum check and closure rail wear, and vertical and inclined S&C checks. Manufactured to British Rail standards, it ensures all maintenance work is carried out safely and in full compliance with BR infrastructure requirements. Supplied with original British Railways Civil Engineering guidance notes.

BANCE PLG-NC / PLG-STD Platform Gauge

BANCE PLG-NC / PLG-STD Platform Gauge

Dual-axis gauge for setting and verifying train platform height and track distance.

Accurately measures the gap and height between the rail and platform edges to ensure train doors align safely with station platforms. Built for easy single-person operation, this gauge separates into two sections for effortless transport. Available in a standard lightweight aluminium model for standard rail lines, as well as an insulated non-conductive version specifically designed to prevent electrical shorting on live electrified third and fourth rail tracks. Calibration certificate supplied with annual renewal requirement. NR Cat. No. 094/007064 (STD) and 094/007039 (NC).
